X Factor's Cher Lloyd signed to Jay-Z's label Roc Nation... right under the nose of her biggest fan will.i.am

Cher Lloyd has been signed to Jay-Z's record label Roc Nation, it has been claimed - right under the nose of her biggest fan will.i.am. It had been widely assumed Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am would snap up the teenager, after being left impressed by her unique talent during her time on The X Factor. However, Cher's blend of singing and rapping also attracted the interest of other musical stars, including Jay-Z, who eventually won the battle to sign the teen. A source told The Sun: 'Even though Cher didn't do terrifically well in the X Factor finals, there's been a hell of a lot of interest in her. Will.i.am's backing only intensified the battle to get her signature 'After weighing up the pros and cons, it was thought that the team at Roc Nation would be best placed to turn her dreams of stardom into a reality.' And while the news has yet to be confirmed, Cher kept fans guessing when she wrote on her Twitter page this afternoon: 'Bite my tongue, I shall not say a word.'

The age-old battle for power and sex.com

I never stole it. He stole it!" cries Stephen Michael Cohen, pointing wildly at the man who had been chasing him for over a decade. "It was you guys who went into court and explained that there was some cockamamie list and therefore he was the owner. The name sex.com has always been mine." The cockamamie list referred to is the internet's most valuable document: a list of the owners of all the internet domain names ending with ".com". And the owner of the dotcom mentioned - the infamous sex.com - is the man responsible for making all those millions of domains into property in the eyes of the law. On January 19 this year, Gary Kremen made the most of his extraordinary legal victory by selling that property for a record $12m (£6.3m). But the tale of sex.com is about much more than property and money. It is a modern retelling of an ancient tale - a Trojan war for the digital age, except with Helen, the most beautiful woman in the world, replaced by the world's most seductive internet address. It reveals what men will do - and are capable of doing - when confronted with their most basic desires of sex and power. The battle began on October 18 1995, when Gary Kremen noticed that sex.com no longer listed him as its owner, despite him having registered the domain some 18 months earlier. Even at this time, the internet had barely penetrated the public's consciousness - the dotcom boom was another four years away - but both Kremen and Cohen had realised that a huge market would soon appear in this entirely electronic and virtual world, and sex.com would be one of its prime pieces of real estate.

Kylie Minogue becomes a GMTV weather girl

Kylie Minogue tried her hand at being a GMTV weather girl this morning as she visited the GMTV sofa to promote her new album Aphrodite. She was a guest for the whole show, which was re-named KMTV in her honour. The singer spent time in the production gallery and helped Richard Arnold preview the day’s television. And Kylie joined regular weather forecaster Kirsty McCabe to add her own take on the day’s weather in Australia and her hometown of Melbourne. Afterwards she raised her hands in the air and exclaimed: "Yay! My first weather forecast!"
