Illusionist David Blaine has been accused of cheating in his latest death-defying stunt to hang upside down for almost three days. Eye witnesses said his 60-hour 'Dive of Death' was nothing more than a sham after he was seen standing upright every hour. His team of helpers lower Blaine on to a metal platform while he is checked out by a doctor and sips from a bottle of water. Witnesses said after a break lasting up to 10 minutes he resumes his upside down position, suspended by a wire frame more than four storeys high over Central Park in New York city. Doctors had warned the 35 year old he faced organ damage, brain haemorrhage and even blindness by hanging upside down for so long. In all the pre-publicity for the stunt, Blaine said the latest endurance test was his most challenging to date. He said would drink water upside down and urinate through a catheter. As internet bloggers rushed to expose his stunt as a fake his spokesman Pat Smith attempted to defended the challenge - and claimed Blaine never said he would not take breaks. Pat Smith said: 'There has been no claim that David was going to hang upside down for 60 hours without a break. 'In all of his discussions with the media, he said he would have to occasionally get his head above his heart and lower his legs to correct circulation.
